Report 2018

After four intense and inspiring days, the internationale tanzmesse nrw, the world's largest meeting place for the contemporary dance field, came to an end on 1 September. For the twelfth time in a row, the dance state of North Rhine-Westphalia hosted around 1,800 exhibitors and visitors from all over the world in Düsseldorf, Krefeld and Leverkusen in the 24th year. A total of almost 500 companies, institutions, dance artists and service providers from 40 countries presented their activities at over 120 exhibition stands on an exhibition area of almost 1000 square metres in the NRW-Forum Düsseldorf. The event combined the international network meeting for dance professionals with a high-quality dance festival. At nine venues, over 50 performances and almost 60 pitchings and open studios showed productions by more than 100 companies and artists from all regions of the world. Within the framework of numerous discussion formats, professional visitors were invited to discuss new perspectives on contemporary dance and current cultural-political or artistic developments. Of the approximately 9,000 tickets available, around 7,000 were purchased by professional visitors and the public interested in dance. This meant that the Tanzmesse's programme reached a capacity utilisation of 77 percent.
