The question “Who am I?” is the starting point as well as the centre around which Roger Sarr’s solo Beyond an appearance revolves. The work traces all the confrontation between our culture and our life that we have to face. Am I the person people around me want me to be or the person I want to be? What is my source? What am I made of? For Roger Sarr, there is one thing that is certain: “The only thing I am sure of is the ’dancer’ that I am and will remain (even if everything else leaves me) – important and brave”.
