Choreography: Pierre Piton
Taking dissonant states of the body to extremes, Pierre Piton’s solo is on the edge of contortion and balancing act. Between convulsions, precarious balances and twists, in an incongruous relationship with the walls and the floor, the dancer challenges the horizontality and verticality of the planes, the inside and outside of the body. Accompanied by an organic and disturbing sound creation – every rustle of the body transformed live by Simone Aubert – this choreographic exploration stretches a tenuous thread between power and vulnerability. Born in 1995, Pierre Piton considers himself to be from an “in-between” generation, that of a dystopian utopia. Open/Closed, as conceptual as it is intimate, is a danced attempt to externalise this ambiguity.
