HATCHED ENSEMBLE

Choreography: MAMELA NYAMZA

Sparking from her highly acclaimed solo HATCHED, choreographer, performer and activist Mamela Nyamza has created the work HATCHED ENSEMBLE with ten ballet trained dancers from different ethnic backgrounds. The production deals with the deeply personal and challenging topic of body politics. Nyamza and her performers demystify and deconstruct (gender) norms, exposing sexist and racist ascriptions, until they realize their own respective true identities within the arts and creative industry. The poetic and emotionally intense work speaks to anyone who has ever felt in conflict with their own identity.
