Appearing like an experimental set-up, BLOT zooms into the microbiological sphere of the human body – abstract as well as fascinating and full of detail. It relates the body to various elements: bacteria, salt and the concept of language. In the performance, the two female performers explore movement in relation to the bacteria in our bodies, presenting the body as an interconnected system – strong and fragile at the same time. In this work, salt creates a collective body on stage and becomes a conductor of creativity, electricity and infection. Our perspiration system defines our biological identity through a unique body odour produced by bacteria. The performance also explores the idea of how language defines human existence through processes of dependency and control. Movement is understood as a transitory presence and an intersubjective experience. Through this method the performers test different ways of living in relation to nature, influencing and being influenced.
