Independent reporting on dance - what for? Is good old dance criticism only needed to provide artists with evidence of their impact and existence? What is the point of journalism if theatres and festivals use power and means to bring advertising instead of knowledge and information about dance to the public via text, images, film? Where are new strategies emerging worldwide to create a critical public for the art of dance - controversial, contentious and enlightening?

The association TANZ.media was founded in 2017 to promote dance journalism and to preserve its independence, especially through digital media. The panel at tanzmesse nrw is part of the initiative to promote quality journalism in dance.
