Pre-Day Tour Essen

On the way to Essen, the bus briefly stops in the small town of Schwelm, which locates the Spinnerei founded by the artistduo deufert&plischke at the end of 2021. Their vision of social choreography evolved into a space for experimental art that both involves the local community and takes project ideas from outside. The tour continues to Essen in the Ruhr region. Since 2002, the former washhouse of the Zeche Zollverein has been home to PACT Zollverein, which not only serves as an artists’ house with residencies and a high-profile stage programme, but also focuses on knowledge research and transfer as well as networking between artistic and theoretical fields in the area of platform and urban space. The visit to PACT Zollverein begins with an open exchange on current topics between the participants, the artistic director Stefan Hilterhaus and some of the current artists of the international residency programme. In addition, the three local choreographers Marie-Lena Kaiser, Luísa Saraiva and Raymond Liew Jin Pin will present their work in an Open Studio.
