Where is home - birds of passage

Choreography: Alice Gosti

Birds of passage is Alice Gosti’s first solo performance piece. It is based on her own intergenerational story as an Italian-American Immigrant – she was growing up as the Italian-born daughter of an American immigrant who later immigrated back to her mothers’ homeland. Using dance, durational performance, installation and storytelling, Birds of passage interrogates how immigrants are consistently stereotyped, exoticised, labeled, othered and shamed. The work explores alternative narratives for immigrants, investigating the structural racism being perpetuated by the use of these labels and the ‘othering’ of immigrants.
