The Song of a Refugee

Choreography: Tsolak MLKE-Galstyan

For this creation MIHR Theatre and Tiezerk Band dive into the musical genre “Song of a Refugee”. This musical genre among Armenian national songs is not only about geographical migration but also about the loss and longing for the homeland. The performers are torn between longing and alienation, hope and despair. Rough stones are the source of inspiration for movement and sound as well as a vital part of the performance itself. The stones represent roughness and native soil – brittleness and comfort at the same time. Movement, sound and the stones create an invisible bond between the performers.
