LA PARTIDA

LA PARTIDA

Choreography: Veronica Cendoya

This hybrid piece, combing dance and football, was initially created as an outdoor performance: Five dancers, five football players, a field and one referee; all gathered in a very peculiar match with its own rules. LA PARTIDA is the feminization of a football match. It is the encounter (and not the dispute) between a team of dancers and a team of real players. The choreography deals with stereotypical “macho” behavior such as abuse of power, exhibitionistic virtuosity, competitiveness and individualism. The show reveals the differences and the similarities between both worlds with a touch of acid humor, blurring the line that separates sport from art.
