Fall Seven Times

Choreography: Guy Nader und Maria Campos

The performance by Guy Nader and Maria Campos was inspired by an Asian proverb: Fall seven times and stand up eight. Both artists were taken by the stubbornness expressed by the proverb. “The saying itself already hides dance in it,” says Guy Nader referring to the continuous flow of letting themselves fall and stand up again. At the same time, falling and standing up again as a philosophical metaphor can be referred to as the basic principle of survival. The techniques of contact improvisation and partnering allow the 11 dancers in Fall Seven Times to give, receive and share weight, thus making gravity visible.
