The enigmatic Latin palindrome In girum imus nocte et consumimur igni (“We wander around at night and are consumed by fire”) of uncertain origin provides the title for Roberto Castello’s play at the interface of cinema, dance and theatre. Castello stages the interpretation of this metaphor – the human life which consumes itself in endless desires and longings – as a cathartic experience: hypnotic, hysterical and grotesque. Rugged black and white, translucent costumes and pulsating music form the setting for this philosophical night show and the superstructure for the various miniatures.
