Ravel's Bolero (1928) has lost nothing of its overwhelming force and all-pervading sensuality. In his interpretation, the choreographer focuses on the almost inexhaustible range of human relations, particularly between man and woman, characterised by an invisible and often insurmountable wall between the sexes. Bolero becomes a metaphor of daily life between conflict and cooperation, between seduction and disappointment, between surprise and bewilderment.
