Raised in Israel, choreographer/dancer Saar Harari experienced guns as an everyday presence in his upbringing. Being a soldier in Israel's Special Forces, he forged an intimate relationship with firearms. After his time in the army, he left Israel and found a world in which guns are not omnipresent, which made him question his relationship to firearms. … and roses is a meditation on guns and the human body, touching on the depiction of guns and gunplay in the mass media as well as the swirling contradictions the holding of a loaded-gun provokes: power and shame, strength and weakness, euphoria and hopelessness.
