Whether we discover the yellow lines or not depends on our powers of imagination. Maybe it’s a strip of ivory piano keys illuminated in the dark. Or could it be an ultimatum, “no stopping here“, a possible metaphor for a country caught between democracy and isolation in China’s sphere of influence. Whatever the case the two Taiwanese dancers Huang Yi and Hu Chien leave us to interpret the work in the way we wish as they weave the sounds of ephemeral music and linear dance into an inseparable whole, without frills and snick-snacks, decorations and unnecessary trappings. Instead every sound and every step goes straight to the heart.
