“In the real world” is the song in the background, and we would love this to be the real world: Green fingernails, glamour and trash, turquoise glitter around our eyes and a completely pink robe. Is this beautiful or is it ugly? Who cares? Take it as you will. But the eye shadow runs into tears. The superficially clowning narcissistic circlings of a sad drag queen in the spotlight between stand-up comedy, soft porn and cabaret are filled with minute tender gestures that we would prefer to follow in magnified close-up. It’s terribly comic. And heartbreakingly tragic.
