Books, newspapers, emails – the written word helps us to understand one another. But what happens when the letters of the alphabet swirl around and words make no sense any more? In “Murmur,” Aakash Odedra, a confessed dyslexic, has reacted to a personal problem with his swift, precise language of dance – and developed a confident contemporary system of signs. Movement instead of text: light and shadow instead of typography. The second part of the evening is also devoted to signs and how we read them. Since time immemorial tattoos have been symbols of initiation rites and professions of faith. The body as the shell of the spirit and soul serves as a projection screen. “Inked” is a homage to Odedra’s Indian grandmother and her body art.
