Inspiriert von der eindringlichen Bildsprache aus Cervantes' Don Quijote schafft TILT durch einen Strudel aus Bewegung, einer Holzkonstruktion, Stepptanz, Live-Musik und einem großen hölzernen "Flipperautomaten" eine (alb)traumähnliche Atmosphäre auf der Bühne. Die fünf Darsteller*innen erschaffen zerbrechliche Konstruktionen, zerlegen sie und erschaffen sie wieder neu. Dadurch wird es auf der Bühne allmählich unübersichtlich und chaotisch – ein Spiegel für das Versinken des Protagonisten in den Wahnsinn. In der Probe kreierten die Darsteller*innen bereits eine detaillierte Handlung, Partitur und Bewegungsschablone, die sie auf Bühne jedoch dem unvorhersehbaren Verhalten der Holzkonstruktion anpassen müssen.

2019 New Music USA project grant; TILT is the final chapter of a multi-year project that began with a commission by Women in Motion. It was created in part through The Field’s Artist Residency program, supported by the Tides Foundation, and residencies at CAVE in Brooklyn and Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore. The first chapter, “I would,” was made possible, in part, by The Field’s 2012-13 Field Dance Fund, supported by the Rockefeller Brothers Fund and Mertz Gilmore Foundation.
